Hydraulic Vane Pump

A hydraulic vane pump is a positive-displacement pump commonly used in hydraulic power packs to generate oil flow at moderate pressure with smooth, quiet operation.

Construction Main components:

  • Pump housing
  • Rotor (mounted on drive shaft)
  • Vanes (sliding blades fitted in rotor slots)
  • Cam ring
  • Inlet & outlet ports
The vanes slide outward due to centrifugal force and hydraulic pressure, maintaining contact with the cam ring.

Working Principle

  • Working Principle When the rotor turns, vanes slide out and create expanding chambers
  • Oil is drawn in through the suction port
  • As the chambers reduce in size, oil is pushed out through the delivery port
  • Continuous rotation provides uniform, pulsation-free flow

Types of Hydraulic Vane Pumps

1. Unbalanced Vane Pump

  • Fixed displacement
  • Simple design
  • Lower pressure range

2. Balanced Vane Pump

  • Reduced bearing load
  • Higher pressure capability
  • Longer service life
